The Peace-of-Mind Promise

A quality paint job is an investment in your home or building, and you deserve results that last well beyond the day the crew packs up. Most painting companies in Indiana offer a one- or two-year warranty. We offer three, in writing, because we control the two things that make paint fail early: surface preparation and product quality. Our licensed, insured team preps every surface properly and applies premium Sherwin-Williams coatings exclusively, so we can stand behind the work with confidence.

This page explains exactly what the warranty covers, what it doesn’t, how to keep it valid, and how to file a claim. No fine print hidden in a contract — just clear terms you can read before you hire us.

What Our Painting Warranty Covers

For 3 years from the date of project completion, AltaVista Painting Pro warrants against paint failure caused by defective workmanship on the surfaces we prepared and painted.

  • Peeling, blistering, flaking, or chipping of the paint we applied, when caused by improper surface preparation or application.
  • Every surface listed in your original estimate — interior walls, ceilings, trim, doors, cabinets, exterior siding, soffits, fascia, and more.
  • Labor to repair or repaint the affected area at no charge to you, performed by our own crew.
  • Residential and commercial projects alike, from a single room to an entire HOA community.

Warranty repairs are limited to the affected areas and use the same product and color originally applied. Because paint weathers naturally over time, a perfect match to surrounding surfaces can be approached but not guaranteed.

What the Warranty Does Not Cover

Like every professional painting warranty, ours covers workmanship — not conditions or damage outside our control. The following are excluded:

Surface and substrate conditions

  • Horizontal surfaces such as decks, porch floors, railings, window sills, and stair treads
  • Cracks in plaster, drywall, stucco, or masonry
  • Nail or screw pops and drywall tape tears
  • Rotten wood, rust, disintegrating metal, or galvanized metal
  • Bleeding knots and tannin stains through the finish
  • Failure of previous paint layers beneath our coating
  • Exterior varnished, stained, or clear-coated wood

Causes outside our control

  • Moisture intrusion from roof, gutter, plumbing, or foundation leaks, or trapped humidity
  • Mildew, mold, or algae caused by moisture accumulation
  • Structural movement, settling, or expansion of the building
  • Normal fading, chalking, and wear from sun and weather
  • Accidental, impact, pet, or abuse damage — scratches, dents, scuffs
  • Damage from improper cleaning, harsh chemicals, abrasive tools, or high-pressure washing
  • Paint or materials supplied by the customer
  • Work performed on the surfaces by anyone else after our project
  • Paint and material costs for warranty repairs (labor is always free)

How to Keep Your Warranty Valid

Your warranty is automatically included with every project. To remain eligible, we simply ask that you:

  1. Pay in full at project completion, or as otherwise arranged in your contract.
  2. Keep your original estimate or invoice. It lists the surfaces covered and serves as your warranty record.
  3. Report any issue within 30 days of first noticing it, so we can correct it before it spreads.
  4. Allow reasonable access to the affected areas so our team can inspect and repair them.
  5. Care for painted surfaces properly — gentle cleaning with mild soap and water, no abrasive tools or harsh chemicals.

The warranty applies to the original customer at the original property address and is not transferable if the home or building is sold.

Why We Can Stand Behind Our Work for 3 Years

A warranty is only as good as the work behind it. Here’s what makes ours easy to honor:

  • Proper preparation, every time. Filling, sanding, caulking, priming, and masking are the difference between paint that lasts three years and paint that lasts thirty. We never skip prep to save time.
  • Premium Sherwin-Williams products only. We apply Emerald, Duration, and Cashmere exclusively — the highest-rated professional-grade coatings available — and we’re a Sherwin-Williams Certified Applicator.
  • A final walkthrough before we leave. You inspect every surface with us and sign off only when you’re 100% satisfied.
  • A local, accountable team. We’re based in Carmel and serve Hamilton County and the Indianapolis metro. When you call, you reach the people who did the work.

Whether you need exterior painting, interior painting, cabinet painting, or commercial painting, the same warranty applies.

Painting Warranty FAQ

How long does the AltaVista Painting Pro warranty last?

Three years from the date your project is completed. That’s longer than the one- to two-year warranty most Indianapolis-area painters offer.

Is the painting warranty transferable if I sell my home?

No. The warranty covers the original customer at the original property. It is not transferable to a new owner.

Does the warranty cover fading or color change?

No. Gradual fading, chalking, and weathering are normal for any exterior coating and are not workmanship defects. Using premium Sherwin-Williams exterior paints minimizes fading, but it can’t be eliminated entirely.

What if I supply my own paint?

Work done with customer-supplied paint is not covered. We can’t warrant products we didn’t select or verify for the surface, which is why we use Sherwin-Williams Emerald, Duration, and Cashmere exclusively.

Does the warranty apply to commercial and HOA projects?

Yes. The same 3-year workmanship warranty covers our commercial, multi-unit, and HOA painting projects.

Are cabinet painting and limewash covered?

Yes, for workmanship. Cabinets are covered against peeling or chipping caused by improper prep or application. Limewash is a mineral finish designed to weather and patina naturally, so that natural aging is not a defect — but flaking caused by improper application is covered.

How do I file a warranty claim?

Call (317) 850-8212 or email info@altavistapaintingpro.com with your address, completion date, and photos. We’ll confirm within one business day and schedule an inspection.
