The 2027 Colors of the Year are landing right now — Sherwin-Williams made its pick official on September 15 — and this year the message is impossible to miss: green has taken over. Three of the six colors announced so far are greens, and the rest lean into the same earthy, nature-first mood. Here is every 2027 color announced to date, what is still coming, and how each one actually works in a Carmel home.
The 2027 Colors of the Year at a glance
Six major paint brands have announced their 2027 picks so far. The swatches below are digital approximations — screens flatter every color, so always sample the real paint on your own wall before committing.
Sherwin-Williams Celery SW 6421 — the headline pick
Sherwin-Williams named Celery SW 6421 its 2027 Color of the Year on September 15, 2026, drawn from its 2027 Colormix® forecast, “Rewild.” The company describes it as a fresh take on comfort and calm — a green that brings “a light and airy presence to interiors.”
“Celery was chosen as the 2027 Color of the Year because it reflects today’s priorities: wellness, balance and connection,” said Ashley Banbury, Color Marketing Manager at Sherwin-Williams.
In practice, Celery behaves like a friendlier neutral. It reads green in daylight and softens toward a warm putty in the evening, which makes it far easier to live with than a saturated sage. We spray Sherwin-Williams lines every week as a Sherwin-Williams Certified interior painting crew in Carmel, and colors in this family have been the most requested shift away from gray all year.
Behr Grounded and the olive-green moment
Behr announced Grounded T27-01 back in August — an earthy olive that “moves effortlessly between olive and moss, anchored by subtle brown undertones.” Where Celery is the easy, livable green, Grounded is the statement: it is the color we are seeing on kitchen islands, studies and built-ins.

Green cabinets are the fastest way into this trend without repainting a whole room. A sprayed, factory-smooth finish in a Celery-adjacent sage or a Grounded-style olive transforms a kitchen in under a week — here is how our cabinet painting process in Carmel works.
The rest of the 2027 field
Valspar opened the season with Cottage Door, a powder blue chosen for calm; Dutch Boy went warm with the terracotta Deep Rooted; Dulux picked the pale, heritage-leaning Soulful Sage; and Graham & Brown chose Rose Earth, a plaster-toned dusty pink. Different shades, same instinct — colors pulled from outside, meant to make interiors feel restorative rather than showy.
Still to come: Benjamin Moore and Pantone
Benjamin Moore has not announced its 2027 Color of the Year yet — its 2026 pick, Silhouette AF-655, arrived in mid-October last year, so expect news within weeks. Pantone traditionally announces in December. We will update this post as each one lands, so check back — and since we spray both Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore premium lines, you will be able to sample whichever wins you over.
How to use the 2027 Colors of the Year in a Carmel home
1. Celery walls, warm white trim
Celery-family greens love creamy trim colors and oak floors. Keep ceilings soft white and let the green carry the room — bedrooms, home offices and sunrooms are the natural fit.
2. Olive on the millwork
Grounded-style olives belong on cabinets, islands, built-ins and interior doors, where the brown undertone reads as furniture-quality depth. Pair with unlacquered brass and it looks intentional, not trendy.
3. Color drenching and limewash
The 2027 palette is made for the two techniques dominating 2026 interiors: color drenching (walls, trim and ceiling in one shade) and limewash, whose mineral texture gives these nature-based colors real depth. Brick and stone take it beautifully — see our Romabio-certified limewash work.
